06 agosto Make Me Stay (Awake With You)This is hot off the press, and it took 30 Minutes to write. I'm not sure how much I really should say about this one. I would like to think that this was self-explanatory, but I've been wrong before. Right now writing is the only consistent thing I have going for me, so I hope that the quality of my writing is as consistent as my need to write. Being stuck in constant transition does give me a lot of time to think. Now I just need to act on these thoughts. Gavin --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the price I pay for keeping an open mind Many sleepless nights kept awake by things outside of my grasp Followed by visions of a life I'll never fully know So many thoughts come rushing in I can't handle the speed they carry me at I try to take in every feeling like the breath they filled in I don’t think I could ever truly understand So much purpose put into each scene that keeps playing back in my head Now I see how we could be better Oh if only I knew how to hold onto you Pause for a second, I want to know what it's like to live in this moment I'm not going to interfere with your everyday life I just want to see you in your natural atmosphere Where you stand still with every move you make I see you in frames, not just the motions you make If only you'd take a second to look my way Even without your voice to tell me Your acknowledgement of my presence in this second's passing is enough to make me stay I wonder if you'd let me wander through your thoughts If only I knew myself the way I've grown to know you Then I'd know why you won't leave me alone Why am I so lucky in my dreams? Day and night your peace keeps me together I'm not sure that I really ever could hold on to everything So I try to stay clear of holding onto anything fragile I know nothing compares to how you would look at me, if only you'd look at me Reflections don't do justice The trust of your warm vision’s atmosphere sees clear through me Like crystal I'm clear, but I'm sure you see this all the time So never mind that expression on my face As you watch my life play out in relation to you Your distance is outweighed by my resistance The closer you get, the farther I am I live near enough to look out for you But I can't breathe when I see you coming so close Thank you for coming and going like no one ever could or will again You're something beautiful and as much as I would like to get to know you I'm going to steer clear I think I'm going to stay right where I am Nothing compares to the view from here Even with my eyes shut you're still something beautiful It's no wonder I can't sleep with you laying around in the back of my mind You always keep me up, but I need to come down long enough to breathe |
